Anglers' Club hosts Bass Assoc. Tournament
It was all hands on deck as Aledo Anglers' Club hosted the Texas High School Bass Association tournament on Possum Kingdom Lake May 2, 2015.  Not only were the Aledo Anglers' and their captains up before dawn to check in and launch, but Aledo parent volunteers were up at 4 a.m. to man the check-in table and conduct the boat safety check for the eighty-eight boats that entered the tournament.  The tournament drew teams from schools as far west as Permian High School to as far east as Forney High School.
Even though is was tough fishing for all, faculty sponsor Coach Brad McCone won the Captain's Big Fish award.  Aledo Anglers' Club entered seven boats, each captained by dedicated dads.  Participants were:  Ross Moncrief and Wyatt Young captained by Troy Moncrief, Garret Cutler and Garrett Pruett captained by Phillip Cutler, Weston Hudspeth captained by Bill Hudspeth, Ryan and Brandon Bartholow captained by Eric Chonko, Austin Smith and Alex Jones captained by Chris Smith, Carson McCone and Jet Weatherly captained by Brad McCone, Skylar Strickland and Ryan Walker captained by John Strickland.  While the team was out fishing, a crew of supportive Aledo volunteers spent the day setting up the stage for weight-in where they directed traffic, logged weights, and grilled hot dogs. Aledo Volunteers were:  Donna and Rick Young, DeeDee Cutler, Andrea and Preston Walker, Kristin and Chris Bartholow, Lori Hudspeth, Leigh and Gordon McAdams, Kendra and Darren Pruett, Kristen Chonko, Brandon Dominguez, Garrett Young, Shannon Klumpp.
Pictures below are Hot Dog griller:  Gordon McAdams grilled hot dogs for over hundreds of hungry anglers and spectators.
Lori Hudspeth and Dee Dee Cutler handed out 300 recyclable snack bags provided by Club sponsor Jerry's GM.
Andrea Walker logged weights as teams brought in their bags.

COLORGUARD TRYOUTS
FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE
KATE AGUILLARD WINS THE GOLD SEAL!
Six students went to Dallas to find out if they made the coveted gold seal in the VASE competition (Visual Arts Scholastic event). Out of 29,000 entries from the state of Texas, 1600 are chosen as the very best. Then they are judged again and only 177 get the Gold Seal. Our Kate Aguillard won the Gold Seal.

Five other AHS entries made perfect scores in the second judging. Photography Teacher Sandra Sawyer said, “I love this event because it always is a surprise. Each one is really good, but it comes down to a judge’s decision. I keep telling my students it is not just the prize; it is in competing.”
