FFA Chapter Participates in the Ft. Worth Parade of Lights
Students of the Aledo FFA Chapter participated with a float in the annual Parade of Lights Nov. 28 in Fort Worth. The Chapter had 75 kids help create the float, and 11 kids that rode on the float. The theme of the float was Christmas in Paradise. According to parade rules, for us to participate, we had to have a minimum of 4,000 lights, so the float was created to look like the beach. There were waves along the side and a giant wave in the back where someone was surfing. At the front of the float, a palm tree with green leaves, stood tall and proud. In order for all the kids to ride on the float, they each brought one toy for Toys For Tots, and wore Hawaiian shirts in keeping with the theme. During the parade, little kids were excited to see all the smiling faces. They laughed and jumped up and down, watching someone surfing the giant wave. Even some of the parents stopped and laughed at the sight of us having a blast!  Overall the float was a success! The FFA kids had a good time assembling the float and riding on it. The Aledo FFA Chapter plans on participating in the Christmas Parade of Lights next year as well. As time goes on, we hope to make this an annual event.
